Rosedale House
When our clients Tom + Julia approached us about their bushfire rebuild in Rosedale, we found our way to make a small, but meaningful contribution to the bushfire disaster rebuilding effort. The project is an exercise in restraint – how to make extraordinary architecture affordable, by designing with a compact footprint and limited palette of materials.
On Yuin Country, Rosedale is a beautiful bushland setting, which is the charm about the place, but in terms of bushfire risk, it’s also what’s most dangerous. During the black summer fires of 2019-2020, the seaside community was completely razed, and the original Polish-style summer house was lost.
Getting people back into bushfire affected areas as swiftly as we can is so important in terms of repairing community.
